- Description
Here's a walk with a difference: In 2023, some amateur space enthusiasts launched a home-made near-space capsule to an altitude of ~30km. When it returned to earth it landed in a tree about 10m off the ground in a valley on the Western side of the Newnes escarpment. They think the capsule has now fallen to the ground and have asked for assistance to retrieve it. We will use a known pass to descend through the cliffs and see what we can find. Even though the walk will be short, it's all off-track and the descent and ascent is ~450m. The middle half is very steep. Suitable for fit, agile walkers.
