Wollemi Traverse - the final bit - Camerons Cutting to Bylong Valley Way
This is the final leg of our Wollemi Traverse - in sections. We will start at Camerons Cutting on the Widden Valley Road and finish at the Goulburn River. It is an untracked section and traverses some dramatic sandstone ridge territory typical of the northern Wollemi. This part of The Wollemi is generally a dry area. Water for camping will need to be carried. So anyone coming will need to be familiar with how to pack lite to manage the extra water required. This part of the walk is covered in Yuri Bolotin's Wollemi National Park - The Complete Wollemi North South Traverse (they went the opposite direction). Limited spots available.

A circuit of Alcatraz
We will park along Fire trail 2 off the Glow Worm Tunnel Road. The walk will initially be down the rest of the fire trail to Lurline Jack Lookout. From there we will traverse E to a gully that leads down to the valley and follow upstream to the Devil's Throat. This is a fascinating feature where the creek emerges from an underground section of Alcatraz Canyon. The approach and exit from the valley are quite scrubby but worth the effort. We exit on the S Side of the valley and head E where the views to the Devils Throat are great. We then cross the creek above Alcatraz canyon and return uphill to the cars,. About 5 hours walking, some mild scrambling without  gut threatening exposure!
