3 - Canyon -
Serendipity Canyon - Mt Wilson
The canyon has up to 6 abseils, the longest 20 metres. There is one 6 metre water jump for the keen. Most abseils are fairly straight forward, but at least one has an awkward start. You can expect to get wet in the waterfalls and there are a few swims in the lower section. There is a pleasant creek walk for 45mins in the middle section of the canyon. Wetsuits need only put on for the lower section. The canyon finishes at the Wollangambe River where we scramble along ledges 100m to the exit point. There is an early exit point, just before the 4th abseil, if water levels are high. This canyon is suitable for beginners, but you must be able to swim and be comfortable abseiling in the waterfall. Grade 3 and 4 given preference.

The exact route will depend on weather conditions. If you’re fit and can carry a pack up a hill, you can snowshoe. Snowshoes can be hired on the way down at Rhythm Snow Sports.
