4 - Pack Walk
The Hume & Hovell Track - 22 days
This is a 22 day pack walk on the 426km Hume & Hovell Track which stretches across South-Eastern NSW, from Yass to Albury. Finishing at the Murray and passing the Murrumbidgee and the Tumut rivers – the long-distance track traverses boardwalks, single track, fire trails and quiet back-country roads, following the historic route of the two explorers after which it’s named. The route crosses more than 100 footbridges, runs along rivers’ edges and through cool-climate forests, with 17 dedicated campsites and picturesque picnic spots along the trail. There will be 4 food/resupply drops organised by the leader and 5 campsites/towns to shower/laundry/recharge devices. Experience carrying full pack (tent etc) and at least 5 days food required. The leader has not done this hike so it is 'exploratory' for her. From the Hume & Hovell Track website: "Surround yourself with quintessentially Australian sclerophyll forests of eucalypts, wattles and banksias, up steep climbs to sweeping views of the valleys below, along boardwalks crossing rich swamplands and or along clear streams of snowmelt, tumbling from the mountains beyond"!

4 - Pack Walk
Snowshoe and Camping – Backcountry Kosciuszko
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST Snowshoe and camping out the back of Thredbo, most likely heading up Dead Horse Gap to the west side of Kosciuszko and back to Thredbo. We’ll aim to camp high where possible in tents or snow caves. The exact route will depend on weather conditions. If you’re fit and can carry a pack up a hill, you can snowshoe. Snowshoes can be hired on the way down at Rhythm Snow Sports. Use this https://form.jotform.com/42396729192869 to register your interest and I’ll send out more information on minimum gear requirements, hiring options, and shared transport logistics. First-time snow campers and snowshoers welcome if your an experience walker and can organise the gear needed. 5 - Pack Walk
Singleton to Barrington Tops
5-6 day walk and packraft from Singleton to Barrington Tops. As some of you may know I have a project underway to bushwalk, cross country ski, canyon and paddle an adventurous route south to north up the Great Dividing Range. This is the next leg of that expedition. The plan for this leg is to travel to Singleton by train, probably on 19 July. Then on 20 July walk from Singleton to Mt Olive Community Centre, about 20km (roadside walking on a country road). Camp in the grounds of that centre. The next day walk to Lake St Clair (the NSW one) do a flat water paddle of about 7km (I have a couple of packrafts and safety gear that I am prepared to lend.) Then walk to Mt Royal National Park. From there walk to the base of the Corker in Barrington Tops National Park, about 3 days. There are a couple of big hills on tracks on this part of the walk that have gains of about 700m. The packrafting is novice level (but you must be a proficient swimmer in open water). The walking is demanding.

Jen C and I are doing an exploratory slot/canyon on Thursday 2nd July. We will abseil in a slot down to Bungary Ck, cross the creek and climb the hill on west. Then explore the 200 m slot/canyon which descends back into Bungary. Relatively short distances, but we climb two hills and we may get wet.

3 - Abseiling
Wolgan Falls from Sunnyside Ridge Road
Wolgan Falls is a great winter abseil trip, 5 dry abseils with the longest drop of 35m right beside the falls. We park cars at GR 3567 1078, descend down an old bike trail, then ascend to the start. It involves exposure and rock scrambling, distance of around 5km, ascent of around 350m, on track and off track. All the usual abseiling gear is needed.

3 - Canyon
Slot near ferny canyon
Abseil into a narrow slot near ferny canyon that Anna, Kirstie and I spotted on another trip. Afterwards we will head south (overlooking rocky creek) and look for an arch that is marked on an old map almost opposite coachwood canyon, then explore another potential slot and back up onto Mt Cameron FT and back to the car. Dry trip, exploratory for the leader

5 - Day Walk
Around Natural Bridge Cascade
Co-leader Bernard Lo. Park at the corner of Coach House Road and Bells Line of Road. From here, make our way around the private property and up on a north, north east trending ridge until around GR 796 899. Turn north west and descend a series of ridges to underneath cliff lines south of Wheeny Creek at around GR 780 912. Traverse counterclockwise above Alsophylla Glen, all the way to the bottom of Natural Bridge Cascade. Next, walk south for a short distance until it is possible to climb above Natural Bridge Cascade. Exit up on the ridges and walk back to the cars. About 8 km. Mostly exploratory. Scrambling and exposure.
