Come join me on my first trip as a newly minted canyon leader.
Long Gully, near the township of Bungonia, consists of 10 abseils ranging from 6m to 60m with most being 20m. It’s notionally a dry canyon, so wetsuits aren’t required, although you are likely to get wet to the knees. We’ll start and end in daylight, and it’ll be around an 8 hour trip.
Preference will be given to grade 3 and 4 canyoners who have canyoned and attended a ropes practice day in 2025. The focus of the trip will be on practicing newly acquired skills in a canyon environment - rigging for grade 4s and safely descending longer drops for grade 3s. Each of the 4 participants will be mentored 1 to 1 by an advanced canyoner or canyon leader.
