The Cracks of Doom are situated off Sunnyside Ridge on the Newnes Plateau. The road is in very bad condition with numerous potholes. Heavy duty 4WD vehicles are required. This adventure involves abseiling and squeezing through narrow cracks. The cracks are only a short walk from the vehicles. We abseil into the Diamond Cavern then use a rope to climb out of Crack of Doom Two. A walk along the cliff top brings us to Crack of Doom 1, a very tight squeeze. An alternative is a 25 m abseil. We return to the vehicles by a pleasant exit gully. Hazards include cliff edges and squeezing through narrow cracks. Bookings open on 3 July. No bookings before this date please.
